This book has a great first chapter. Imagine your ex-husband showing up unannounced after many years while you are trying on your wedding dress. The interaction between the two characters hooked me right off the bat.

Unfortunately, the strong writing and interesting plot idea didn`t live up to initial expectations. Reese becomes almost a cartoon character in her mad rush to turn her canceled wedding into a party. The ending trivializes the reason the two people broke up in the first place. Other than the two characters have an intense sexual connection, there is nothing about Reese that shows she is going to be able to deal with Mason long term. She was a pampered rich girl when they were married and she has spent the intervening years being taken care of by someone who was hand-picked by her family. She works on the board of her fiance`s family charity. Both Mason and Reese are unemployed by the end of the book and given that Mason has a severe brain injury, this does not spell happy ending. Not sure good sex is going to cure what ails these two.

I would read another book by Aimee Carson, because I like her style of writing. For me, the story-line was the issue.

It's a cute story and I enjoyed that it was not a carbon copy of every other similar book out there. I didn't like the un-natural way the characters spoke to each other. I mean, this is set in the 21st century and who uses the word "adorn" in every day conversation? The author was overly descriptive of almost every detail as well, but overall - a cute little book.
Reese was trying on her wedding gown when her ex husband came in the room. Mason was a marine and married to his job. Their was mis communication in their marriage. He almost died when he stepped on a iud. His psychiatrist sent him to get closure with Reese. 10 years went by Reese tryed to get on with her life,but she couldn't marry Dylan. She still loved Mason and didn't know it. Until he walked back into her life. I love this series.
I'll admit this was an accidental read and that doesn't really matter. What matters is that I did read it and then I had to read the other books in the set.
This is exactly what it's supposed to be a contemporary romance and it's fun. It's an easy read. It reminded me - 40+ years later - what it feels like to fall in love with "the one." Of course, I stayed married to my one, but not everyone does that. I'm glad Reese and Mason found each other again.
Oh, and I'm glad the others in the story found their one.
I liked Reese and Mason's story. The writing was really good and I could relate to Mason thinking Reese was spoiled and her realization that he was right. I felt bad for all the health problems he had to overcome. I felt bad for Dylan--I thought he was pretty nice. I didn't really connect with Reese's friends, though.
Reese is about to get married to the perfect guy but has she truly gotten over her first brief marriage? Mason has loved Reese from the first moment they met 10 years ago and yet he couldn't make the marriage work. Will Mason showing up a couple days before Reese's wedding destroy her once again or bring them the happiness they missed out on the first time around? This is a really sweet story. I'm generally not a fan of stories where a man or woman interrupts a relationship but Aimee Carson handled the outcome of it very well. I look forward to reading this again in the future and the rest of the series.
This is a story that presents the problems of a veteran coming home from the war and the invisible injuries that accompany him. It is the foundation of Reese and Mason's love story and gives substance to, what otherwise would be, a typical romance format. Each of the characters in the book have individually defined personalities, but I felt Dylan was the "is he for real?" male in his understanding of Reese. The author, however, nicely manages to set him up with a promising future elsewhere, and everyone's happy. Between the little rich girl, who has no idea how money has shaped her life, and the struggling veteran, who is trying to get a life, there story had the potential to be much better.
Mason and Reese married when they were very young and barely knew each other. The one thing they knew was that they loved one another and when you know you're meant to be together there's no time to waste.

Mason had just joined the Marines and after his return from Afghanistan Reese was faced with the ugly truth of PTSD and a closed off Mason. No matter how hard she tried she couldn't get through to him. She ended up asking for a divorce after an awful argument.

It's been 10 years and Mason shows up in her life again only days before she marries her fiancé Dylan. The one person who was there for her after her divorce and subsequent depression. But Dylan cares deeply for her and wishes for her happiness whatever that may be. Realizing she still has issues to work through he calls off the wedding so she can find out if she still loves Mason or if she's really moved on and is able to love Dylan unconditionally.

With the wedding cancelled Reese decides to throw a party instead so everything doesn't go to waste. Mason stays with her to help her out and work out some of their past issues but what Reese realizes is that in the past she was more at fault for their broken marriage than she ever realized. Will she let her guard down long enough to realize she never stopped loving Mason? Or is Dylan the man she truly loves?
